Lika is a chill, side-scrolling single-player experience, where the player controls the wind to save the animals of the forest and collect leaves along the way!
Its available for most Android devices on the Google Play Store.
My primary focus in the development cycle was making a clean and responsive user interface. During the last stretch, I was tasked with revamping the main menu into a storybook within a week, and I believe the result speaks for itself.
I was also responsible for fixing the remaining bugs, polishing gameplay, optimizing for mobile and publishing it to the App Store. This gained very good experience in the final stages of shipping game titles on this project.
The crowning achievement of the UI is the title screen. It features a dynamic, interactive storybook interface that enables you to turn pages at the touch of a finger and really gives it the storybook feel.
The background is a real-time render of a 3D environment overlayed by a worn paper to give the user interface a picturesque feel. The camera follows the leaves and wind as it blows through a vibrant forest scene.
Lika takes place over the four seasons and features unique tasks and creatures in each stage. The player is tasked with navigating these environments, solving puzzles, and collecting leaves to restore balance to the forest.
Without the wind spirit, Lika, animals have become trapped and in all sorts of mishaps. As you progress along your journey, help them out for extra rewards!
Lika features many wind-oriented obstacles and tasks to complete. The player must swipe to clear out fog, to navigate prickly vines, and power windmills to destroy barriers.
As the player collects leaves and reinvigorates the forest, the music adds layers of vibrancy and colors shift from sepia tones to all of the brilliant shades of nature. This not only adds artistic flavor, but also provides a visual indicator of progress and feedback for the player.
