Salmon Run is a sandbox game simulating the lifecycle of Salmon in the style of a top-down tower defense game. It is a grant-funded research project through MSU’s BEACON center for the study of evolution in action and is a collaborative effort between Michigan State University and University of Idaho in Moscow, Idaho.
The goal of the game is to teach biology in a fun and interactive way to middle schoolers. We have partnered with a local middle school for playtesting and it has previously been integrated as part of a course curriculum in the form of a couple days project.
